Zway (Ethiopia). From 8 to 12 April 2024, the event “From Mornese to Africa: Salesian Sisters TVET Network for Innovation and Sustainability” is held in Zway, Ethiopia.
The event aims to define together – as African and European realities of the Salesian Sisters who deal with Professional Formation – a common “Identity Card” TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and to start a path for the creation of an international TVET network for the activation of stable collaborations for the formation of young people in the African continent, also valuing new European and national opportunities.
Present in Zway are: the General Councilor for the Missions, Sister Ruth del Pilar Mora; Sister Yvette Badini, Provincial of Mother of God Province (AFO) and President of the CIAM Interprovincial Conference; Sister Marie Dominique Mwema Mukato , Superior of the Preprovince Mary Help of Christians (AES); Sister Chanda Nsofwa, Sector collaborator for Youth Ministry and School/FP contact for CIAM; the President of the Foundation Ciofs Fp ETS, Sister Manuela Robazza; the Vice President, Sister Silvana Rasello; the Director, Massimo Peron; and Dr. Donata Cutuli, representative of Fondimpresa.
Also participating are the FMA Professional Formation Referents of Angola, Zambia, South Africa, Lesotho, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Madagascar, and Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as Ambassadors, international and local authorities, lay people involved in Ethiopia’s FP Centers, and entrepreneurs.
The event represents the stage of a path initiated a few years ago by the General Council of the FMA Institute, for the development of an international network specific to the Vocational Formation of Salesians, making the most of the experience gained in Europe and Africa. It is preceded by several online meetings at European level, by an organizational one held in Rome in 2023, and by the meeting of a delegation of the Ciofs Fp ETS Foundation with representatives of the coordination of the FP Centers of Spain, held in Madrid in February 2024.
The week of work in Ethiopia, in addition to representing an important time of knowledge and sharing between European and African realities regarding the Foundation Ciofs Fp ETS, it will also be an opportunity to launch projects for the training of young people from African countries on the spot and to accompany them to work in Italy, valuing the opportunities offered by the “Guidelines on language and civic formation programs abroad” contained in the recent ‘Cutro Decree’. “From our point of view, this represents an opportunity to offer certain and safe migration routes to young people who have already matured this type of choice, thus avoiding for them dangerous trips and irregular entries into our country,” says Sister Manuela Robazza.
The seminar of April 9 can be followed live online on the Channel YouTube CIOFS-FP ETS.
