Santiago (Chile). From 12 to 14 June 2024, the National Day of ECOS Coordinators (Social Communication Team) was held at Sacred Heart Retreat House in Santiago El Bosquewhich. It brought together 18 communicators of the Educating Communities and members of the team of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Saint Gabriel the Archangel Province (CIL).

The objective of the experience is linked to the formative path that is leading the FMA Provincial Communication Team in Chile, focused on the formation of teachers and the establishment of a network that generates life in the context of the digital world, according to the guidelines of the Social Communication Sector of the Institute, led by the General Councilor, Sister Ausilia da Siena, and her team.

The event began with a communicative dynamic and with the presentation of the theme of Salesian Presence/Assistance in digital media by Sister Susana Díaz Vidal, Province Coordinator of CS, which was followed by training on the preparation of news for the web by journalist Andrea Robles.

Connected in streaming, Sister Marcia Kofferman, FMA of Our Lady Aparecida Province (BAP), Doctor in Educommunication, then presented the theme “Educommunication and Infodemia”, citing the Brazilian pedagogist Paulo Freire, “Education does not change the world; it changes the people who will change the world.”

On the second day, participants visited the offices of the Lenovo company in Chile, where Daniel Lagarini, Education Ecosystem Manager of Google for Education, talked about the novelties of Google Workspace 2024 -2025, teacher formation, of Gemini AI, and the educative possibilities of working with Chromebooks.

Subsequently, César Cid, of the SIP Network (Society for Primary Education), shared the path taken by this institution, starting in 1999, to become a Google reference network (Google Reference School).

In the last activity of the morning, led by Alejandro Gallegos and Fernanda Cordova, both of CodeChile, communicators tried role-playing in groups, as administrators and students, experimenting with the potential of Lenovo Chromebooks, made available by the company Millo Technology, which at the end of the meeting, offered a computer for participants, received by Javiera Tapia, FMA Aspirant.

In the afternoon, Mauricio Machuca, member of the provincial team of CS, presented the new institutional web interface for each Educating Community, with their respective workspaces, while journalist Juan Carlos Camus addressed the issue of artificial intelligence and strategies to generate better content through it.

On the last day, the group deepened some practical knowledge on photography, with Ángela Maldonado of the Polytechnic Institute Mary Help of Christians of Puerto Montt, on video and live streaming, with Enzo Bustos of the Polyvalent High School Maria Ausiliatrice of Linares, and on audio recording, with Sister Susana Díaz Vidal, Coordinator of CS.

After the evaluation of the meeting, the participants returned to the Houses of origin, enriched with new content and ideas, waiting for the next opportunity and with the prospect of gradually moving towards the Google Reference School Certification.
