Rome (Italy). On 10 October 2024, the Salesian Thursdays at the Auxilium – in presence and online – resume on topics of pedagogy, spirituality, and history of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, proposed by the Study Center on the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Pontifical Faculty of Education Science «Auxilium» in Rome.

The 5th edition is placed at the opening of the Triennium in preparation for 150th of the first missionary expedition of the FMA (2024-2027) with the intention, in collaboration with the Missions Sector of the FMA Institute, to accompany the Triennium in preparation that will officially open on 14 November 2024, anniversary of the first departure of the FMA for Uruguay (1877).

In the 1st appointment – Catholic missions between the XIX and XX century and the contribution of women – Sister Grazia Loparco, Professor of Church History at the Auxilium Faculty, proposes an introduction to the revival of the missionary initiative of the Catholic Church by the Holy See and the people of God, with the unprecedented contribution of women, religious and lay, missionaries in every part of the world.

In the complex geopolitical context of the last two centuries, there is an evolution of the very concept of mission, not only ad gentes, but linked to emigration, mobility, and secularization. It is the setting in which the Salesian missions began in 1875-1877.

The monthly events of “Salesian Thursdays at the Auxilium” – from October 2024 to April 2025 – will be broadcast online from 18:30 (Italian time) and will remain available on the YouTube channel Centro Studi FMA.
