Rome (Italy). The first issue of the magazine Da Mihi Animas (DMA) of the year 2025 is published, which deals with the theme of Hope, as described in the publications of the year: 1. Hope in the signs of the times; 2. Hope is a journey together; 3. Hope is bold; 4. Educating to Hope.
In the editorial of the 1st issue – Hope in the signs of the times – Sister Maria Ausilia De Siena, Councilor for Communication of the FMA Institute, introduces the theme motivating the choice:
With the choice of Hope as the central theme of the Jubilee 2025, Pope Francis encourages Christians to reflect on this virtue as a basis for responding to the challenges of our time that threaten confidence in life and the future. Being “pilgrims of hope” is an invitation to undertake a renewed spiritual journey that interprets the signs of the times with the gaze of God, with a flexible mentality and a healthy critical sense, in order to be able to grasp the positive aspects of progress and orient hope.
After reviewing several signs of hope that emerge in many areas of human life – despite the crises and uncertainties of our time – Sister Ausilia concludes her reflection recognizing that perhaps, more than anything, hope is in small daily actions: in the smile of those who help without asking for anything in return, in the tenacity of those who do not give up, in the beauty and goodness to be recognized even in difficult moments, even in the midst of a tragedy like war. Hope is not an illusion, a simple desire, superficial optimism, but concrete energy that motivates actions, the search for solutions, the strength to believe in a better future.
Reflecting on hope is important to rediscover its true meaning, keeping it alive with growing confidence in the unconditional love of God that never disappoints. This is the objective of the DMA magazine, in line with the journey of the Church.
The magazine is enriched with multimedia insights, available on the website www.rivistadma.org, recently renovated, easily accessible from PC, tablet, and smartphone. Translated into six languages, it is also available for download in a fully digital format.
The three-year period of preparation for the 150th anniversary of the first missionary expedition, launched on 14 November 2024, offers the magazine the opportunity to tell the story of the hope that many FMA have been able to embody in their daily lives, sharing life with the people.
A splendid example is Suor Maria Troncatti, Mother, Missionary, Artisan of peace and Reconciliation, who will soon be proclaimed saint! Sharing hope means encouraging us to believe together that, even in the darkest situations, there is always a glimmer of light, sign of a possible change!
To know the wonders concretely operated by the Charism over time, this year’s third cover contains photos of a reality of the first missionary expedition in different continents, with the comparison, “yesterday and today”.
All issues of the magazine – published from 2006 to date – can be consulted in the Archive, in the respectiverispettive Translations.
