Seoul (Korea). From 17 to 26 October 2019, the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians is visiting Morning Star Province (KOR).
On October 17, Mother Yvonne Reungoat was received at the International Airport of Seul-Incheon by the new Provincial Cecilia Kim; the Provincial Silvia Choi: by Adriana Bricchi, missionary from Italy; and Domenica Park, missionary in Mongolia. It was a moment of joy and the of offering a bouquet of flowers to express gratitude to Mother for having come to Korea as a pilgrim, missionary, and sister.
Mother visits the Institute on the five Continents with the aim of reinforcing the bond of communion, strengthening the commitment of fidelity to the Constitutions, and encouraging the development of the Salesian charism and works in response to the challenges of the Church and of the area, in the spirit of the Salesian Preventive System.
At the Provincial House, about 100 sisters and young people welcomed Mother to the rhythm of the traditional Korean music, and three girls of Nazareth House accompanied Mother, leading her with the Korean lamp.
There was a short welcome celebration in the Chapel dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. At the Good Night, about 80 sisters of the near-by communities listened to Mother who asked them to pray for the Amazon Synod, for peace in Haiti and Syria, and for vocations.
On October 18, Mother Yvonne visited the educational Spirituality Center where there are various works: cafeteria, after-school, Education Courses for Parents, and activities of vocational animation. In the afternoon, she met with the Animators and the Provincial Council. Mother Yvonne spoke on how to animate the community in the Family Spirit, emphasizing the need to walk together in synodality, as Pope Francis asks us and solicited us to promote vocational animation. In the evening, she met with the Temporary Professed Sisters of Seoul, sharing with them the beauty of a relationship with Jesus, the meaning of Consecrated Life, being educators and helpers, the need to build unity of life around prayer, fraternity, and mission.
On October 19, Mother met with the Postulants and spoke to them about the call which was followed by a serene and open dialogue. She greeted the children of the Nursery School and then left for Jeju, where she will meet the young people of the Group Home and the educators of the Counseling Center.
Mother continues her animation visit in the Korean Province, reaching the various cities where the FMA Institute is present. She will meet with the FMA, pupils, teachers, laity, and young people of the Educating Communities and the Salesian Family. On October 26 she will return to Rome.
