Kyiv (Ukrainae). On 5 September 2023, in Blessed Mother Maddalena Morano Community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Kyiv, Mother of God Preprovince (EEG), with the approval of the Bishop of Kyiv and Zhytomyr, Msgr. Vitalii Kryvytskyi SDB, the Chapel was blessed. Our Eucharistic Jesus put His tent in this House and, as it is written in the Constitutions of the FMA Institute, He became its beating heart, “present in the Tabernacle will be the heart of the house for us” (C 40).
Some Sisters from St. Joseph Congregation, with whom the FMA share the mission in the parish and in the school, were present to pray with the community at the first Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Michal Wocial, Salesian of Don Bosco of Zhytomyr.
The FMA Community, opened in Kyiv in autumn of 2021, directs and runs St. John Paul II Gymnasium. Despite the ongoing conflict, this year too the School opened its doors to pupils from 1st to 4th grade, who are in great need of support and integral development, especially in this situation of severe limitations that they find themselves experiencing. The FMA are also involved in pastoral care with children and adolescents in the parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross with the Carmelite Fathers, and in the Youth Ministry Commission at the diocesan level.
“We bring the names of all our benefactors, volunteers, families, children, and young people who rely on our prayers. May our remaining before the Lord be reflected in generous and unanimous service and be prolonged in the Adoration of our Eucharistic Jesus in the eyes of children and all the people whom the Lord sends to us,” is the prayer of the Sisters of the Community, for whom the blessing of the Chapel is a sign of light and much hope.
