Phnom Penh (Cambodia). On 7 October 2023, on the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, for the first time in the history of the Salesian Family in Cambodia, four young Cambodian women made the promise in the Association of Devotees of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA), one of the 32 Groups of the Salesian Family.
The Group began its journey in 2006, in a Vietnamese village called Neak Luang, where nine students of Don Bosco Professional Training Center and the high school boarders, Catholic and non-Catholic, lived a beautiful and significant experience of Christian life during Holy Week. They brought together the children and families of this village to pray, play, and teach the catechism, some hygiene and health rules, the values of life, etc.
From this experience a group called “Little Voice of Mary” was born to continue Christian and Marian formation and commit to sharing it with others. The members of this group have given themselves objectives, rules, and commitments, continuing to live and assimilate the values and bearing witness to them in their workplaces, parishes, and schools, as catechists and teachers.
As the years passed, the Little Voice of Mary became acquainted with ADMA and it became clear that the two spiritualities coincided. The members were thus encouraged to move to a Group recognized by the Salesian Family.
After a year of studying and assimilating the Regulations of the ADMA Association, the group asked to be admitted to the Association. On 24 May 2023, the request was accepted.
On 7 October 2023, the first four members of Little Voice of Mary became full members of ADMA Cambodia.
The Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Roel Soto, Salesian of Don Bosco, Spiritual Director of the Association, in Phnom Penh, in the chapel of the St. John Bosco Community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Mary Our Help (CMY) Province. Sister Celine Jacob, Visiting Councilor of the FMA Institute, was present, together with the FMA, members of the Salesian Family, and family members.
