On April 24, 2020, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Nossa Senhora Aparecida Province, had the opportunity to be present at a virtual meeting that brought together all the communities in southern Brazil. The initiative promoted by Sr. Maria Ivone Ranghetti, Provincial of Nossa Senhora Aparecida Province – BPA, had the objective of continuing the preparation for General Chapter XXIV and the journey towards the New Configuration of the Brazilian Provinces. For this meeting, Sister Nilza Moraes, member of the Pre-Chapter Commission, was invited to speak. She presented the Working Document of General Chapter XXIV: “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2: 5). Communities that generate life in the heart of contemporaneity.
The Pre-Chapter Commission elaborated the Working Document of GC XXIV from January 7 to January 31, 2020, in Rome at the FMA Generalate. The elaboration of the Working Document is a very important phase in the immediate preparation for General Chapter XXIV, in fact it is a matter of approaching the ‘holy ground’ of the FMA Institute with respect and attention, contemplating with amazement all the richness and charismatic vitality that the Educating Communities express in the Church and in the territory, with the challenges, weaknesses and potentials, limitations and difficulties, which must also be considered.
Sr. Nilza spoke of the methodology used and presented a summary of the Working Document.
Sr. Nilza Moraes was appointed Provincial of the new Nossa Senhora Aparecida Province which will be officially inaugurated in January 2021, with the unification of the Provinces of Campo Grande, Porto Alegre, and San Paolo in Brazil.
The initiative was highly appreciated by the FMA who were able to have direct contact with the whole Province and use digital media in a collaborative and engaging way.
