Manila (Philippines) Sister Lucy Rose Ozhukayil, Daughter of Mary Help of Christians, Visiting Councilor for the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, is carrying out the Canonical Visitation in “St. Mary D. Mazzarello” Province of the Philippines (FIL), which started on February 22, 2020. After initial meetings with the Provincial Council and subsequently with the Community Animators, Sister Lucy, due to the Coronavirus emergency, continued with the Visit to the Communities via online connection. In this situation, it was in her favor to have been able to resume the journey started in 2019, when she had made a brief visit to each of the 17 communities of the Philippines.
From the House of Mary Help of Christians in Minglanilla (Cebu), Sister Lucy visits through video-conferences and online interviews. Despite this unusual modality, the FMA live her presence as a real and not only a virtual experience, preparing with the same care the moments of prayer, sharing, reflection, and thanksgiving at the end of the visit.
Before all the activities were closed, Sister Lucy Rose Ozhukayil managed to visit 7 communities that have schools of various grades. In this time of ‘social distancing’, obligatory due to the circumstances, the Communities of the Philippines and Papua New Guinea who live the experience of the Canonical Visitation, experience that not even a virus can create barriers to fraternity and for strengthening communion in the Institute.
