Rome (Italy). ‘Lived holiness and theology. The case of Maria D. Mazzarello’ is the title of the Round Table organized by the Study Center of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences “Auxilium”. The event is scheduled for April 14, 2018, at 10.00, at the Institute of Theology of Consecrated Life “Claretian”, largo Lorenzo Mossa, 4, Rome.
The research, led by Sister Eliane Anschau Petri, new teacher of Spiritual Theology of the Faculty Spirituality Course, on the testimonies collected in the Public Copy of the Beatification and Canonization Process of Maria D. Mazzarello, offers the opportunity for a broader reflection on the close relationship between lived holiness and theology, especially spiritual theology
The experience of the Co-Foundress of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, in the light of a correct reading of the sources that speak of her, can be compared with other ecclesial figures of the past who, among other things, allow us to glimpse fertile questions to live the present in coherence between the call to the Christian life and the mission entrusted to each one.
In fact, precisely the mission, according to H. von Balthasar, configures the form of holiness and, in the case of Founders and Foundresses, becomes a charism communicated to companions/ disciples. For this reason, the action of the canonized Saints in the Church is not limited to the function of intercession and exemplarity. In them, spiritual theology finds a primary source of Christian wisdom and of a believer’s reflection. And those who share the call, religious and consecrated, but also lay people close to the same spirituality, find points of reference to reflect on a crucial question: What would they do if they were here today, in our place?
After the greetings of the academic authorities, Xabier Larrañaga Oiarzabal, CMF, Dean of the Institute of Theology of Consecrated Life “Claretian” and Pina Del Core, FMA, Dean of the Faculty “Auxilium”, the topic will be explored by two speakers:
– Prof. Maurizio Bevilacqua, cmf, on “I am a mission on this earth” (EG 273). From the lived holiness of the Founders to a communicated charism
– Eliane Anschau Petri, fma, on “Mission of Holiness” of Mary Domenica Mazzarello.
Moderator of the Round Table is Professor Grazia Loparco, FMA Coordinator of the FMA Studies Center.
Testimony on M. Mazzarello by those who knew her closely is online on the site: centrostudifma.pfse-auxilium.org together with other sources and documents of the FMA.
