Rome (Italy). On 25 June 2018, at the Salesian Headquarters in Rome, the mid-year meeting was held between the Youth Pastoral Dicastery and Sector, coordinated by the General Councilors Fr. Fabio Attard SDB and Sr. Runita Borja FMA.
The meeting is always a time of reflection and discussion among the members of the two working teams that animate and coordinate the educational mission of the Salesians of Don Bosco and of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians worldwide.
The themes of common interest were studied, the animation processes that the Sector and Dicastery coordinate (Salesian School America and School / Fp Salesian Europe, the sports movement PGS International), and the events in common, in particular the presence of the Salesian Youth Movement at World Youth Day in Panama in January 2019; the International Congress “Youth and life choices: educational perspectives”, to be held from 20 to 23 September 2018 in Rome, organized by the Salesian Pontifical University and the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences “Auxilium”.
Meeting a few days after the official presentation of the Instrumentum Laboris for the Synod 2018 on “Youth, faith and vocational discernment”, those present were able to share contents and resonances by reading the rich and broad document, which is part of an interesting participatory process in the ecclesial communities and provokes the two Congregations to the prophetic practice of listening to and accompanying young people.
