Rome (Italy) The monthly online meeting of the World Council of the Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASSCC) was held on 20 June 2020, presided by Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco and Supreme Moderator of the Association. The meeting was attended by the World Coordinator, Antonio Boccia, the Councilors of the 11 Regions, the Secretary, the Administrator, the Delegates of the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
After a moment of prayer and greetings from the Councilors, the Rector Major thanked Fr. Giuseppe Casti, SDB and Sister Leslye Sándigo, FMA for the animation service carried out in the SSCC Association. He then welcomed Sister Lucrecia Uribe, new Delegate for the Institute of the FMA
In his central message, Fr. Ángel Artime invited the Salesian Cooperators to take on a double sensitivity: “be docile to the Salesian mission, paying attention to young people and the poor by responding to their needs and being attentive to the action of the Holy Spirit, who is able to transform us personally and therefore to transform the Association. The Spirit acts in the history of the people who live with you.”
Furthermore, considering the animation service of the Association worldwide, he urged, in post-coronavirus time, to avoid two attitudes that marked the way of living this period – pessimism and optimism – that derive from self-referencing and to undertake instead the path of hope lived in faith.
The World Council continued the work by examining the proposal by Raúl Fernández, Councilor for Formation, who presented the draft of the Plan of Formation in order to promote unitary formation within the Association.
