San José (Costa Rica). On October 22-26, 2019 the Provincial Chapter of Our Lady of the Angels Province (CAR) took place with the participation of Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, laity, and young people from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panamá.
In continuity with the theme of General Chapter XXIV, “Communities that generate life in the heart of contemporaneity,” the 51participants lived a strong experience of Salesian formation characterized by the continual invocation and presence of the Holy Spirit, in a climate of prayer, availability, and synodality in the search for God’s Will in the life and mission of the Educating Communities of the Province.
The living presence of Mary accompanied the whole experience of the Provincial Chapter, illumined by the passage of the Wedding of Cana, especially when the Gospel says, “The Mother of Jesus was there” (Jn 2:1). The participants were also accompanied by all the Educating Communities of Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panamá who from the beginning to the end of the meeting, were constantly before the Eucharistic Jesus: children, young people, teachers, parents, women praying for the success of the meeting.
The serene work and the valid choices accomplished were in the light of responding to the ‘cries and challenges’ of our contemporary society, with particular attention to the young and to the poorest and most defenseless people, following the example of Blessed Sr. Maria Troncatti.
The contribution of the young people and the laity present generated great hope in the assembly as it perceived the positive will to work together, even though coordination for communion must be empowered so that the shared mission constitutes a journey of holiness for all those who live the mission of the Salesian charism with joy and enthusiasm.
The Provincial, Sr. Ena Veralis Bolaños, and Sr. Susana Li will represent the Province at the coming General Chapter XXIV.
