Tunisia. On 7 February 2025, more than 90 young oratorians from the Salesian Schools of Tunisia gathered in Menzel Bourguiba, at the School of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of  Notre-Dame des Nations Province (FRB), to participate in the Salesian Youth Day. The event brought together Salesian animators, FMA, Salesians of Don Bosco, and friends, with the presence of Msgr. Nicolas Lhernould, Archbishop of Tunis.

It was a unique opportunity for the animators of Menzel Bourguiba, La Marsa, La Manouba, and Tunisi, who came with enthusiasm and great expectations for this Day to meet, share, and strengthen the bonds of friendship. A young Tunisian animator recounts his experience:

Welcome!

The day began with a breakfast together, prepared by the organizers of Menzel Bourguiba to welcome their guests. The atmosphere was immediately warmed with lively dances led by MBY (Menzel Bourguiba Bosco Youth). These moments of joy helped to break the ice, dispel shyness, and warm bodies, especially for those who were not accustomed to the cool climate of northern Tunisia.

In this joyful atmosphere, each participant then randomly chose a colored leaf to form mixed groups among the different oratories. The first activity consisted in dynamics to get to know each other better, opening the way for sincere and enriching sharing.

Formation: reflection on hope

The heart of the day was a moment of formation around an important theme: “Hope: how can we contribute?” Divided into groups, participants shared their ideas, reflections, and experiences.

It was amazing to see everyone involved with such enthusiasm. Each brought a unique perspective and all listened with attention and openness. There was a deep respect for everyone’s ideas, which led to enriching and constructive sharing. During the discussion a true spirit of fraternity was created among the Salesian animators.

Times of sharing

At the end of this busy morning, participants shared a meal, along with smiles and enthusiasm, further strengthening the relationships created during the morning.  During their free time, the dialogue continued and some recalled past meetings, while others took the opportunity to make new friends.

Another significant moment of the day was the dance performances prepared by each group. Each one felt free to express their talent, amid the applause and encouragement of others.

A conclusion full of hope

At the end of the day, the traditional group photo was taken, which captured the energy, unity, and fraternity that marked the event. The greetings were exciting: immense pride to have lived this day together, but also a little sadness to have to say goodbye so early. Everyone returned home with the same feeling: that they had lived an unforgettable experience and with the hope of being together again soon.

A future inspired by this experience

More than a simple meeting, the Salesian Youth Day was a real catalyst of inspiration. The exchanges, shared ideas, and commitments made will continue to guide each participant on his/her personal and community journey. The enthusiasm and determination experienced throughout the day demonstrate that, together, we are able to build a future in which faith and hope are not just words but realities. Looking forward to meeting again, may the spirit of this day continue to inspire us all!
