Rome (Italy). At the beginning of the Jubilee year 2025 and in the heart of January, the Salesian month par excellence, the General Postulation presents the Dossier of the Postulation 2024 with all the events and steps taken last year.
The Salesian Postulation concerns 179 among Saints (10), Blesseds (117), Venerables (20), Servants of God (26). Among them, there are Saint Mary Domenica Mazzarello, Blessed Maddalena Morano, Blessed Maria Troncatti, Blessed Eusebia Palomino, Blessed Maria Romero, Blessed Maria Carmen Moreno Benitez, Blessed Maria Amparo Carbonell Munoz, Venerable Laura Meozzi, Venerable Teresa Valsè Pantellini, Servant of God Antonietta Böhm, Servant of God Rosetta Marchese, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and Blessed Laura Vicuña, alumna of the FMA of Junin de los Andes (Argentina). The Causes directly followed by the Postulation are 61 (plus 5 extra).
The Postulator General for the Causes of the Saints of the Salesian Family, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, explains that the Dossier contains the list and the status of each Cause and presents the events of 2024. These include the following:
28 April 2024: Cuautitlán (Mexico) closing of the diocesan inquiry into the cause of the Servant of God Antonieta Böhm (1907-2008), daughter of Mary Help of Christians.
25 November 2024: authorization by Pope Francis to promulgate the Decree concerning the miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Maria Troncatti, professed Sister of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, born in Córteno Golgi (Italy) on 16 February 1883, and died in Sucúa (Ecuador) on 25 August 1969. It is the miraculous healing of a man from “Open brain trauma with conminuted skull fracture, loss of cerebral tissue, and exposure of the right fronto-parietal-temporal site, diffuse axonal damage (DAI), severe coma in type 2 vegetative state,” in 2015 in Ecuador.
Collecting testimonies of holiness, documentation of graces received through the intercession of these brothers and sisters, disseminating their knowledge, and inviting them to prayer is a commitment of evangelization and education typically linked to the climate of Valdocco and Mornese, where holiness was the purpose of the educators and the goal pursued by the students.
The Saints reinvigorate hope. “We feel the need to face the current challenges with a courage ‘full of faith’ and be ourselves little torches of hope for others, especially for the poorest and neediest young people,” says the Superior General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, in Circular No. 1044.
In the Jubilee year, which invites us to walk as “Pilgrims of hope”, the forthcoming canonization of Blessed Maria Troncatti is an encouragement for the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and for all those who share the same educative passion: living to the full the demands of Christian and missionary life, in the wake of the Charism of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello, is a Grace that multiplies itself for the lives of many.
You are invited to report the graces received to the e-mail box animazionesantitafma@cgfma.org or by regular mail to the General Secretariat of the FMA Institute.
