Wrocław (Poland). From 9 to 14 October 2024, Sister Leslie Sandigo, General Councilor for the Salesian Family, and Sister Lucrecia Uribe, World Delegate of the Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASSCC) and World Animator of the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA), made an animation visit to Mary Help of Christians Province (PLA).
Through this experience they were able to know the realities of the Schools of Wrocław and Ostrów Wielkopolski, where they met students, teachers, and lay personnel and talked with them about the Salesian Family, its roots, and its hidden wealth in the diversity of groups. Sister Leslie and Sister Lucrecia underlined and showed the relevance of the Salesian charism in the face of the challenges of the contemporary world and the local environment, where the FMA work together with the laity.
The program of the visit included two meetings for members of the Salesian Family organized in Wrocław and Ostrów Wielkopolski, which were attended by the FMA of almost all the Communities of the Province, Past Pupils, and Salesian Cooperators. Sister Leslie and Sister Lucrecia presented the basic points of the Charismatic Identity Card of the Salesian Family, with its charismatic and ecclesial richness.
The reflection together allowed us to look at the path traveled between activities and formation, and then open up to new horizons. The family atmosphere and the joy of being together awakened charismatic passion to live for young people and with them. They strengthened the sense of belonging to the Salesian Family and were concretized in an invitation to seek new roads together.
The meeting with the Provincial Council and Team was also a significant time of reflection on the theme of the mission shared with the laity. The contents helped to consolidate provincial choices and allowed grasping the concrete steps and challenges to be faced.
In the meeting with the Salesian Family FMA and SDB Council, there was the opportunity to share what is being realized together and reflect on how to promote common initiatives to strengthen and share the beauty of the Salesian mission and the formation proposals for consecrated persons and lay people who wish to share the Charism of Don Bosco.
The visit of Sister Leslie and Sister Lucrecia to the PLA Province brought new inspiration. It also contributed to strengthening communion in diversity and to nourish gratitude for the gift of the Salesian Family. The participants of the groups in the various meetings were able, not only to reflect, but also to exchange experiences and ideas, contributing undoubtedly to consolidate and make the Salesian Family in Poland grow.
