Rome (Italy). Vides International organizes a psycho-pedagogical formation course, provided by the Pontifical Faculty of Education Science “Auxilium” in Rome, within the project “Keeping Families Together II: Strengthening communities through capacity building, policy integration, and volunteers best practices to support the Salesian Sisters in promoting deinstitutionalization in India and Kenya.”

“Volunteering and deinstitutionalization: A psycho-pedagogical approach to support children and families” is the theme of the course, funded by the GHR Foundation, which addresses the topic of deinstitutionalization, increasingly relevant in social policies and child and family care programs, combined with volunteering, exploring how a psycho-pedagogical approach can provide effective support to children and families in the transition from institutional care to more family and community based solutions.

In recent decades, the concept of de-institutionalization has become increasingly important in social policies and care programs for children and families. This process aims to reduce dependency on residential institutions and promote social inclusion through home and community support.

Within this context, volunteering plays a crucial role by providing essential support that complements professional services and promotes a more human and personalized approach. This formation project explores how a psycho-pedagogical approach, combined with the commitment of volunteers, can offer effective support to children and families during the transition from institutional care to more family and community-based solutions.

The course, in Italian and English, is online in asynchronous mode and is divided into four modules of theoretical and experiential character issued monthly (January-April 2025) on the platform for online teaching of the “Auxilium” Faculty (The schedule of meetings will be sent to participants).

During the month, between the delivery of one module and the other, students can organize time and place to acquire content through video-lessons, insights indicated (ITA-ENG), required activities, and the self-assessment. Those who have attended the course and completed the activities and tests will be issued a certificate of attendance.

The deadline for registration is 15 December 2024.

To register or for more information, consult the brochure  (ItalianEnglish).
