Shillong (India) In an attempt to alleviate the pain and suffering of people during the lockdown caused by the coronavirus epidemic, Immaculate Heart of Mary Province of Shillong (INS) activated initiatives of prayer and material help.

The three High Schools of the INS Province showed their solidarity by contributing financially to the Relief Fund of the Chief Minister of the State of Meghalaya. On 28 April 2020, a representation of the High Schools, consisting of Sister Joplin Suchiang, Dean of Shillong Auxilium;  Sister Lydia Mary Pala, Dean of the Upper Secondary School of the Sacred Heart of Mawlai; and two teachers, one of S. Mary Mazzarello of Jowai, and the other from Shillong Auxilium met the Prime Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K. Sangma in his Shillong office and delivered an economic contribution.

This contribution is the result of a collection by the FMA and the staff of the three schools located in the state of Meghalaya, in north-eastern India. “There is more joy in giving than in receiving”, is the attitude that motivated the Leadership and Personnel of the Schools to this gesture of solidarity towards the needy.
