Paraguay. Listening to the cry of the Earth and in response to the Deliberation of the XXIV General Chapter (Acts n.36), which involves the whole Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in a concrete and continuous journey of conversion to integral ecology, assuming the seven objectives of Laudato Si’, in the spirit of the Preventive System, the Province of Saint Raphael the Archangel of Paraguay (PAR) has given life to a concrete initiative with the slogan, “Cultivate your dreams, cultivate life”.
On 11 May 2022, all the Educating Communities of Paraguay will plant and commit themselves to cultivate native species of Paraguay in the green areas of the FMA Houses, in the squares or in the most suitable places, involving other institutions and governmental, civil or religious realities.
This gesture, inserted in the province celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the FMA Institute, will be associated with the intentions of families, written by hand and printed on ecological paper, so that these deep desires of the heart may grow, transform, and give life in abundance like the trees that will develop.
The cultivation of native plants, endangered plants and/or fruit trees, will be a privileged educational space to increase in children, young people, and all communities the awareness of the need to preserve local species, recognizing that everything is interconnected, and that every action on the environment has a global impact. For this reason, it becomes of vital importance to promote personal and community responsibility in the care of the Common Home.
“We can all collaborate as instruments of God for the care of creation, each with their own culture and experience, their own initiatives and abilities” (LS 14).
