Rome (Italy). Sister Jolanta Kafka RMI, President of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG), sent a message to respond to the worldwide coronavirus crisis, inviting Religious Congregations from all over the World to celebrate a day of prayer and solidarity on Sunday 22 March 2020 especially for the sick and for doctors and nurses.
“This is the time when each of us is called to respond to the world coronavirus crisis in solidarity with others, especially with the most vulnerable and most at risk people. It is time to follow the directives provided by the World Health Organization and our respective governments.
It is a special time for prayer and witness, through concrete solidarity and with awareness, our responsibility to take care of each other. This extraordinary time offers space for acts of generosity and expressions of gratitude especially towards those who are at the forefront of the care of the sick, those engaged in research projects to find remedies, and those who work in public services. No matter who they are or where they are, they must know that they are in the thoughts and prayers of women religious around the world.
We therefore invite all member congregations of the UISG to celebrate a day of solidarity and prayer all over the world on Sunday 22 March, especially for all those directly affected” (Sister Jolanta Kafka RMI, President of UISG).
