Santiago (Chile). On 5 April  2025, the Cerro Colorado in the municipality of Renca, Santiago of Chile, where stands the Sanctuary dedicated to Blessed Laura Vicuña, was the scene of an ecological encounter, followed by the Eucharistic Celebration in commemoration of the 134th birthday of the Chilean Blessed. Despite her short existence, she has left a deep legacy of joy, purity of heart, and love for creation.

The event, organized and animated by the community of Renca of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and the Bl. Laura Vicuña Foundation, brought together participants from different Educating Communities of the Province of Saint Gabriel Archangel (CIL), coming from Santiago, Los Andes, Talca, and Renca, who gathered to celebrate youth holiness.

The Eucharist was presided by Fr. Pablo Siu who in his homily invited us to thank God, “because He speaks to us through what is simple, through Laura and many young people in the history of the Church who give us an example of Christian life.”

At the end of the Celebration, the Provincial, Sister Marisol González, thanked all the participants for their presence and stressed that “God does great things with little ones”, a reflection that materialized in the ecological activities carried out during the day.

With the collaboration of the Municipality of Renca, volunteers and the support of the “Corporación Cultiva”, those present made “seed bombs” to create a memorial garden, participated in the cleaning of the hill, and planted new trees, thus contributing to beautify the natural sanctuary dedicated to the Blessed Chilean.

In an exciting moment of the celebration, the whole assembly sang “Happy Birthday” to Laura Vicuña. Afterwards, the participants shared a slice of cake, concluding the encounter with a gesture of communion and fraternity that reflected the festive and family spirit of the event.

This initiative not only honored the memory of Laura, but also reflected her love for God’s creation through concrete actions in favor of the environment, uniting spirituality and ecology in the  intention of renewal and hope.
