Bangalore (India). The Indian Province Sacred Heart of Jesus (INK), committed to finding new ways to alleviate the suffering of the poor, through the “Feed a Mouth program”, ensures a daily meal for people in need on the outskirts of Bangalore.

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to increased poverty, particularly among the elderly, the sick and bedridden, the disabled and widows, who often do not have what is needed for a daily meal. After identifying this need, the Provincial Association FIDES mobilized local benefactors and partners to find resources and launch the project of donating one meal a day to these people.

The Provincial, Sr. Celine Jacob, and the Animator of  Sacred Heart of Jesus Community of Bangalore, Sr. Monica Thomas, on 31 January 2021, the Feast of Don Bosco, officially inaugurated the initiative in the presence of civil authorities and some representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). There were also some elderly people from the nearby village, who were then invited to lunch.

The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, teachers, staff, and other supporters of the initiative were involved in the preparation and packaging of 120 packs of food, distributed in six villages and in the slums of Kaverinagar, the northern outskirts of Bangalore.

The joy of the people reached motivates the FMA and all the volunteers to continue this project with enthusiasm, initially planned on a weekly basis that then became daily, thanks to the involvement of benefactors and supporters in this good initiative.
