Dublin (Ireland). On 14 and 15 June 2024, the members of the Strategic Development Group of O. L. Queen of Ireland Province (IRL) met in Dublin, at Saint Mary Mazzarello House, to discuss and train in support of missionary projects.

The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Ireland are among the 79 organizations belonging to the Misean Cara, the international Irish missionary movement supported since 2004 by the Irish Aid program of the Irish government, providing funding and support for Irish missionaries’ overseas development projects.

The purpose of the funding is to enable the religious congregations in some of the most disadvantaged regions around the world to uphold people’s rights to climate-resilient livelihoods, better healthcare, quality education and human rights.

In order to guarantee the continuation of this funding under the new Misean Cara Grant Management System, the Salesian Sisters in Ireland have been working to ensure best practice so as to conform to the requirements of Misean Cara.

For this, a Province Strategic Development Group has been established to widen this responsibility for the Misean Cara funding process. Members of the group include the Mission Development Officer, Sr Noelle Costello, some FMA, lay colleagues and VIDES International.

The Dublin meeting strengthened the Group in the joint formation aimed at supporting projects and the shared mission. “Sharing the spirit of Mornese and the Salesian mission means feeling involved in the choice of the education of women and of the poorest youth” (LOME, 73).
