Vatican City. On 30 April 2021, at 12:00, the Opening Session of the Diocesan Inquiry of the Servant of God Mother Rosetta Marchese (1922-1984), 7th Superior General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, will take place at the headquarters of the Vicariate of Rome.
With this act, the diocesan phase officially opens for the collection of testifical and documentary evidence on the life, the heroic virtues, the reputation of holiness, and the recognition of signs of the Servant of God.
Present at the session with the members of the Diocesan Tribunal are: Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, Salesian of Don Bosco, Postulator General of the Salesian Family; the Mother General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sr. Yvonne Reungoat; two General Councilors; and the Vice Postulator, Sr. Francesca Caggiano, FMA.
The event includes:
– The reading of the minutes of the opening session of the diocesan inquiry with the relative oaths of the Episcopal Delegate, the Promotor of Justice, the Notaries, the Postulator, and the Vice Postulator.
– The discourse by the Cardinal, or his delegate, on the life of the Servant of God, her characteristic features and her reputation for holiness.
– The greeting of the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sr. Yvonne Reungoat.
– The Prayer for the Beatification of the Servant of God.
In the second year of preparation for the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the FMA Institute, this event is a time of grace to rediscover the traits of the Salesian and Marian identity of the FMA and to walk the path of holiness with the young people of the five continents.
The FMA Institute accompanies this phase with prayer, so that the Lord and Mary Help of Christians may guide all the Officials of the diocesan Tribunal and the members of the Historical Commission in working with science and conscience in the search for truth and for the good of the Cause.
In compliance with the anti-Covid 19 rules, there will be no participation in presence. The event will be broadcast in direct streaming for all those who wish to follow the event.
Mother Rosetta Marchese was born in Aosta on 20 October 1922. She makes her first profession in the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Turin on 5 August 1941. First in Turin and then in Vercelli, she studies to obtain a teaching diploma. In 1947, she graduates in Literature from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. From 1947 to 1958, she was a Teacher in Turin in “Mother Mazzarello” Missionary House. From 1959 to 1961, she was the Animator in Caltagirone, and from 1961 to 1965, in Rome (Via Dalmazia). In 1965 she was entrusted with the leadership of the large Roman Province of “St. Cecilia”. From 1971 to 1973, she was the Animator of Lecco Olate and then the Provincial of “Mary Immaculate” Province of Milan.
In 1975, during the XVI General Chapter, she was elected Visiting Councilor and in the following General Chapter of 1981, she was elected Superior General.
On 8 March 1984, after a long illness offered like Mother Mazzarello, for the sanctity of the Institute, Mother Rosetta concludes her earthly life. In July 2019 the Cause for her Beatification opens.
On 13 January 2021, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints communicated to the Cardinal Vicar of the Diocese of Rome, Card. Angelo De Donatis, the Nulla Osta by the Holy See at the opening of the Cause for Beatification and Canonization.
